How Ride and Shop works

What is Ride and Shop?

Ride and Shop is a free browser extension designed to help you save money while you shop online. It gives you discount codes across the UK’s favourite retailers, which can be applied at checkout.  

How does the extension find discounts?

The extension uses algorithms to scan the web for discount codes. Ride and Shop is operated by Kindred Soul Ltd, who partner with various retailers and coupon providers to surface a wide range of discounts.  

Is Ride and Shop free to use?

Ride and Shop is free to use. Our mission is to help you save money while shopping online, and we provide that valuable service free of charge. 

Note that National Rail and Kindred may receive commissions from our merchant partners when Ride and Shop is used to find available savings. These commissions are payable by the retailer, and do not affect the price of any products after discount. 

Is Ride and Shop available internationally?

Ride and Shop is only available in the United Kingdom.  

Supported Devices

Is Ride and Shop available on all devices?

Ride and Shop is designed for desktop devices on google chrome. 

Is Ride and Shop available on all browsers?

Ride and Shop is available on desktop browsers as follows:   

It is available on Google Chrome. It may work on other Chromium based browsers (Edge, Brave, and DuckDuckGo) but is not officially supported on these browsers.  

Please make sure that your browser is up-to-date to experience the extension's full functionality.  

Installing or uninstalling Ride and Shop

How do I install Ride and Shop?

Desktop (Chrome):  

  1. In the Chrome web store, search for ‘Ride and Shop’ 
  2. Select “Add to Chrome” 
  3. In the pop-up, select “Add Extension”   

How do I disable the extension?

 

Desktop (Chrome):  

  1. Open the Chrome browser. 
  2. Click on the puzzle piece ‘extension’ icon in the top right side of the browser. 
  3. Click “Manage Extensions”. 
  4. On the extension, click “Remove”.  

 

What if I don’t want to use Ride and Shop?

 

On desktop, it’s available to download from the Chrome extension store (for Chrome) but does not function or collect any data until you choose to install it, and you can disable or uninstall it at any time.

Shopping with Ride and Shop

Where can I use Ride and Shop?

Kindred Soul Ltd has access to a wide range of online retailers to provide codes, and the list of supported stores is growing all the time. Once you’ve activated the Ride and Shop browser extension, it will automatically identify discount codes for selected retailers when you visit their sites 

Do I need a National Rail account to use Ride and Shop?

No, you don’t need an National Rail account to use Ride and Shop


Do I need to do anything to get discounts while shopping?

Once you've installed the Ride and Shop extension and configured your preferences, Ride and Shop will automatically search for discount codes when you visit selected online stores.  

Can I use the extension with other coupon or discount extensions?

Ride and Shop is designed to provide a comprehensive shopping experience. For optimal results, we recommend using the extension as your primary tool for finding and applying the best deals. However, it is possible to use Ride and Shop alongside other coupon or discount extensions.  

What if I don’t see any discount applied at checkout?

Although Kindred Soul Ltd works towards providing you with discounts across as many stores as possible, there will be instances where no offers are available for a particular retailer.  

If Ride and Shop isn't showing coupons on any retailer sites, please check that it has been enabled and has permission to read data. Discount codes can only be shown where Ride and Shop has access to read the data from the site and identify the retailer. If you continue to experience issues, you can contact Kindred Soul Ltd for further support using NRE@kindredteam.com.

When raising issues with Kindred teams, we appreciate if you could provide us with as much detail as possible for us, including:  

  • The site(s) you’re facing issues with.  
  • Your browser type and version. 
  • Your device type and version of the operating system. 
Can I still return or exchange items purchased with discounts found through Ride and Shop?

The use of Ride and Shop does not impact your rights to returns or exchanges, per the guidelines set by each retailer. If you have enquiries or issues with your purchase, please contact the retailer directly. 

Privacy and use of data

What data does Ride and Shop collect, and how is it used?

Kindred Soul Limited (which operates Ride and Shop) is responsible for the operation of the browser extension and collects the following data from your device as this is necessary to operate the Ride and Shop service: 

  • Randomly assigned anonymous click ID for each site you visit 
  • Kindred user ID 
  • Website URL 
  • Your device model, operating system and browser type.

How does the browser extension handle your data and privacy?

The browser extension does not collect or store any data which directly identifies you. All data related to your browsing and shopping activities is anonymized and used to search for available deals and provide you with discount codes. For more details, please refer to the Kindred National Rail Privacy Notice or contact Kindred directly using the email address NRE@kindredteam.com. 

Why does Ride and Shop require access to “read and change” data?

The browser extension technically reads every page you visit in order to identify the retailer and surface discount codes, if available. In order to apply these codes automatically at checkout, where that functionality is available and selected by you, the browser extension also requires access to the page to make changes.   

The ability to ‘read and change’ data is how browser extensions typically operate. The use of this data is limited to what is necessary to provide you with Ride and Shop. Kindred does not make or keep a profile of your general browsing.  

Can I use Ride and Shop in incognito or private browsing mode?

Yes, you can still browse and shop in incognito or private browsing mode.  

Does Ride and Shop collect payment information?

Ride and Shop does not access or store information related to your payments and does not know what you are purchasing or browsing.

How do I report a bug or a technical or accessibility issue with Ride and Shop?

If you encounter issues with the browser extension or the Kindred service, you can contact Kindred Soul Ltd for further support using the email address NRE@kindredteam.com. You will also find a "Report an Issue" option in the extension settings.  

Please do not contact National Rail’s customer service representatives. National Rail is not responsible for the operation of the service and will not be able to support.
